The combination of its slate surface texture walnut pot and hand-matched hickory striker gives you the ability to easily create precise varied sounds including soft purrs and clucks for close-range hunting up to loud yelps for longer distances.</p><p>Condition the striking surface as needed using the included scouring pad to get your preferred sounds. See technique tips below.</p><h4>Specifications</h4><ul> <li>Call type: Pot call</li> <li>Surface: Slate</li> <li>Pot material: Walnut</li> <li>Striker material: Hickory</li> <li>Includes scouring pad</li> <li>Handmade in the U.S.A.</li></ul><h4>TECHNIQUE</h4><p>For the best results:</p><ol> <li>Make sure the call is appropriately conditioned with the included scouring pad.</li> <li>Hold the call away from your body; cup it between your index finger and thumb.</li> <li>Hold the striker like a pencil at a 70-degree angle to call; rest your other fingers solidly against the call.</li> <li>Apply light pressure from the striker when calling.</li></ol><p>For the most consistent pitches and tone use the upper third of the call. The center of the call produces deeper tones.</p><ul> <li><strong>Cackle: </strong>Move striker in straight quick ¼" lines 7 to 10 times.</li> <li><strong>Cluck:</strong> Move striker very quickly in straight ¼" lines using popping motion.</li> <li><strong>Cut:</strong> Move striker very quickly in straight ¼" lines with broken rhythm (ex. 3 notes 2 notes 4 notes).</li> <li><strong>Purr: </strong>Slowly slide striker in a straight 1" line across surface. Hold striker higher for more consistent sound. Use scouring pad to create additional friction as needed.</li> <li><strong>Yelp:</strong> Move striker in a short oval or circular motion in ½" lines producing a two-tone yelp 5 to 7 times in each sequence.</li></ul>
